ControlLogix

Supported Devices

The ControlLogix module can communicate with ControlLogix® 5000 series devices and other devices known to support CIP Explicit Connected Messaging over EtherNet/IP. This includes the ControlLogix® and CompactLogix® devices and coming soon Micro800®(ACM v9.2+) models supporting Ethernet.

Supported Features

Tag Discovery

The Tag Discovery feature of this protocol facilitates the generation of the Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) for Process and Control () browse tag listing by communicating with the device through a series of attribute gathering messages. These messages inform ACM of the controller-scope tags in the ControlLogix device. User-defined atomic, structure tags (non-Micro800) and some predefined tags are further processed, and the OPC browse listing is created from this process. This process is not automatic and must be initiated by the user via command. Details on this are provided in the ControlLogix Tags guide.

Time Synchronization

The Time Synchronization feature of this protocol allows the device to receive the date and time from the ACM host using configurable read and write tags for which the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is responsible for maintaining. The PLC clock is not directly manipulated, but instead relies on the PLC program to track changes made to the configured write tags upon receiving an update from the host.
