DF1

Supported Devices

The DF1/ABTCP protocol module can communicate with the Allen-Bradley® 1774-PLC, PLC-2, PLC-5 (excluding the PLC-5/250), PLC-5/VME, SLC-5/03, SLC-5/04, SLC-5/05, MicroLogix® 1200, 1500, and ControlLogix®. Other devices that use the same command function codes may also be supported.

Supported Features

The DF1/ABTCP protocol module provides support for reading from and writing to elements and sub-elements in any file in the device including the input, output, and status files. Version 4.1.0 and later support multi-bit reads for the PLC-5, SLC-5/03, /04, /05, PLC-2, 1774-PLC, MicroLogix® 1200, 1500, and ControlLogix®. Version 4.1.0 and later also support multi-bit writes for the PLC-5, PLC-2 and 1774-PLC. Version 4.1.6 and later support bit writes and multi-bit writes for the SLC-5/03, /04, /05. Version 4.2 and later support Word range write function, Word range read function, and Bit writes function for PLC-5. Version 4.2 and later also supports logical American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) addressing.

DF1 Over Ethernet

ACM supports DF1 communications over Ethernet including:

  • Devices in which the final physical connection to the device is Ethernet . This is called EIP and is supported for most devices – see note below from Allen-Bradley® documentation.
  • Devices that support the legacy Allen Bradley Ethernet or CSPv4 (PLC5).
  • Devices in which the final physical connection to the device is Serial (via an Ethernet-to-Serial converter).

Note From Allen-Bradley®

The PLC5E added EIP support in early 1999. There are several hardware platforms being supported (Ser. C, D, and E) with firmware upgrades for each. Although not currently the latest revision, the first PLC5E revisions to support IP were:

  • Series C, Revision N.1
  • Series D, Revision E.1
  • Series E, Revision D.1

The MicroLogix controllers support Ethernet /IP via the 1761-NET-ENI (Ref#11).
The PLC5 "sidecar" module first supported EIP at Series B, Revision A.
The SLC5/05 was updated with EIP support in May 1999, with Series A firmware revision OS501, FRN5. If the SLC5/05 is an earlier revision, it can be Flash updated with new firmware. All Series B and C SLC5/05's support EIP.
