Weatherford 8500 Configuration
See the Common Device Configuration guide for assistance configuring the General, Options, Details, and Logging tabs. See the Connection/Schedule page for assistance with the Connection tab.
Device Tab
Address
The slave address of the controller.
Device Type
Select the field device type for this object.
WellPilot RPOC - default
ePic VSD
ePic RPC
EXS-1000
M2000
M8800
M8750
M8500/8650
Max Parameters
The maximum number of parameters to request in one poll read message. This property allows the size of the response message to be adjusted.
Range - 1 to 100
Default - 40
Protocol Options
Enable Enhanced Logging Mode
Default = Not Selected. This prints very verbose messages in the ACM log about the current state of the protocol engine and/or card upload.
Always use FC16 for card upload
Default = Not Selected. This enables the user to change the Function Code (FC) used to upload card buffer data from the default used for a particular controller type. If the controller supports FC25, this option will cause the driver to use FC16EX instead. If the controller supports FC16EX, this option will cause the driver to use FC16 instead.
Time Sync Tab
See the Common Time Sync Tab page.
Card Collection Tab
Collection Priority
Low (Default). Queues up with other Low priority items.
Medium. Interrupts Low priority items, and queues up with other Medium priority items.
High. Interrupts Medium and Low priority items, and queues up with other High priority items.
Card Collection Interval
Select the automatic collection Interval relating to the Schedule object assigned on the Connection tab.
Card Meter
Click {…} to select or create the Meter Object assigned to this device object.  See the Meter section for more details.
In order to publish data to the ACM database, a device object must have an associated meter object. Each device object should have a unique meter object. If card data is to be published to the database, assign a meter object to this property.
If card data is not to be published to the database, but only returned in the associated card data OPC items, this property may be left as {Unassigned}.
Card Collection
Select the type of card buffers to upload.
Buffer Type | Description |
---|---|
Event | Collect the Event buffer. Only applies to controllers that support either function codes FC16EX or FC24. If enabled, event types in the Event Collection group must also be selected. |
Pump On | Collect the Pump On buffer. |
Shutdown | Collect the Shutdown (Pump Off) buffer. |
Present | Collect the Present (Live) buffer. |
Downhole | Collect downhole cards in addition to the surface cards. This option is in conjunction with the other buffer type selections: Event, Pump On, Shutdown, and Present. Only applies to the WellPilot RPOC. |
Event Collection
Select the type of events to upload. These options only apply if the Card Collection type of Event is enabled.
Event Type | Description |
---|---|
Fault | Collect fault events and associated card data. |
Alarms | Collect alarm events and associated card data. |
Plain | Collect plain events and associated card data. |
Number of Strokes in Set
Enter the number of strokes to upload per card set. Range 0 to 5, with zero signifying to use the maximum allowed.
Max Card Points per Message
Enter the maximum number of card points to return in each response message. This property allows the size of the response message to be adjusted. Range 0 to 280, with zero signifying to use the maximum allowed.
Some controllers allow more than 280 points per message. Enter a zero for this property to allow the controller maximum to be used if desired.
FC16 Card Upload Option
These properties only apply if the controller uses FC16 or FC16EX for card buffer upload. The properties determine the data returned in the card.
Load Type
Pounds - actual pounds of load
Fractional - fractional pump/off boxed value
Fractional Load Precision
Only applies if Fractional is selected for Load Type
Two Digit - two digit precision
Three Digit - three digit precision
Position Type
Fractional - actual fractional position values
Marking - marking of well cycle tops or bottoms. This option generates marking indexes and load values only, no position values.
Synthesized - synthesized position values
Voltage - voltage position values
Fractional Position Precision
Only applies if Fractional or Synthesized is selected for Position Type
Two Digit - two digit precision
Three Digit - three digit precision
Marking Type
Only applies if Marking is selected for Position Type
Top - mark the top of stroke
Bottom - mark the bottom of stroke
