UDP BSAP Connection

Overview

UDP BSAP allows multiple BSAP Ethernet devices to be polled simultaneously on the same port.

Warning: The UDPBSAP connection was designed for and tested with Ethernet BSAP protocol only.

Ethernet BSAP protocol must be used when connecting to the Ethernet port of a BSAP device. To do this, check the "Use BSAP Ethernet" option on the Ethernet tab of the BSAP Protocol object.

Serial BSAP protocol must be used when connecting to the serial port of a BSAP device. To do this, verify the "Use BSAP Ethernet" option is not checked.

The UDPBSAP connection must not be used with serial BSAP protocol. It may appear to work for serial BSAP protocol if only one device is using the UDPBSAP connection, but even that isn't guaranteed. If more than one device is using the UDPBSAP connection, responses may not be routed to the correct device if serial BSAP protocol is used.

If it’s necessary to use a UDP connection to reach the serial port, the following connection types have UDP options and can be used with serial BSAP protocol:

Configuration

Once a port has been added to the ACM server, the port must be configured by editing the created object. Configuration may be accomplished using the default Form view.

See the General Object Configuration guide for assistance configuring the General tab.  See the Common Port Configuration guide for assistance configuring the Options tab.

Port Tab

UDP Receive Port

The local port to use for receiving UDP communications.  Default = 1234.

Max Concurrent Polls

Limits how many devices can be polled simultaneously on the same UDP Receive Port. Default = 40.

Lost Connection Timeout

The maximum length of time in seconds to allow to pass with no incoming data before closing the port and reestablishing the connection.
