TCP Pool Connection
Overview
The TCP Pool connection allows ACM to use multiple modems on TCP/IP terminal servers (or similar devices) through the configuration of a single port. ACM then can use any available modem in the pool to poll devices. This reduces waiting time for access to modems because any available modem can be used for polling. To connect to a device that supports TCP Pool, the host computer must have Ethernet network connectivity.
The TCP Pool Connection release connections between poll intervals.
Configuration
Once a port has been added to the ACM server, the port must be configured by editing the created object. Configuration may be accomplished using the default Form view.
Port Tab
Connection Type
The type of connection to establish with the remote address.
- TCP (default)
- UDP
- Select UDP Receive Port Default = not selected. Select to use a specific UDP port instead of allowing Windows to select the port.
- UDP Receive Port Default = 0. The local port to use for receiving UDP communications.
Port Control
The method used to determine exclusive control of the connection.
- Maintain Control (Default)
- Release When Done
Port Release Delay
The length of time in milliseconds to keep control of the port after communication is done. Used in conjunction with Port Control = Release When Done.
Lost Connection Timeout
The maximum length of time in seconds to allow to pass with no incoming data before closing the port and reestablishing the connection.
Enable Dialup Modem
Use a modem when communication through this port.
Modem Test Interval
The interval in minutes at which a command is sent to a modem to check its status. This only applies when the Port Control is set to "Maintain Control"
Info
Use "0" to disable the status check.
Port Options
Lazy Connection. Select to prevent ACM from attempting to re-establish the connection before the next poll.
Host Addresses Tab 1-3:
To configure Host Address 01-48:
- Enter the appropriate Host/IP address and Port using the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:nnn or name.doman.com:nnn
- Select Port Use.
