Software Updates

The Software Updates page provides the ability to install and upgrade software components for Edge ACM. Core software components will be preinstalled on every installation as per usual using the .deb packages for Linux.

Additional components may be obtained by request based on your needs and will be delivered in a .module format. These files can be uploaded and installed using the Software Updates.

The Software Updates page can be accessed by browsing to it in the page header.

The page consists of three sub-pages: Update, Manage Packages, and Update History

Installing and Updating Modules

The Update page allows you to install and upgrade modules. When opening this page, you will see the modules that are currently installed.

Installing a new module

In order to install a new module, right-click your Node and select one of the available packages to display the Installation screen.

Only packages already uploaded through the “Manage Packages” tab will appear in this list. See “Manage Packages” below for more information.

Upgrading an installed module

In order to upgrade a module, double-click it on the explorer. This will open the Installation Screen

Installation Screen

The title of the Installation Screen will either be “Install New Module” or “Update Module” depending on the activity you are performing, but the behavior is the same.

Install New Module/Update Module

Select the module version from the “Available Versions” list. This will load additional information in the Dependency Tree and Update Details tables.

If you want to upgrade any upgradable dependencies shown in the Dependency Tree table, select Upgrade Dependencies

Dependency Tree

The dependency tree shows any dependencies that the selected module requires. The table displays the dependency name, the required version, the version currently installed and whether or not the installed version meets the requirements.

Update Details

The update details table displays any useful information as well as warnings and potential risk from the install/update you’re about to perform. Warnings usually have a link with further information.

Install Button

The target device must be restarted with all new installations in order for the installation to be applied.

Click the Install button to install or upgrade the package. The package is either installed locally or uploaded and installed from AAM if AAM is being used.

If a restart is required, a red icon will appear next to the node.

Additional information about updates and status are visible on the top right of this page. This will also show if a restart is required for current node, and the date of the last update.

Restart the Node

In order to restart the node, right-click it in the explorer, and select Restart Node.

The node will be sent a command to restart completely.

Once the node restarts, you can use the upgraded/installed software modules and continue with operations. The restart will bring up any previously running applications.

Manage Packages

This page will allow you to upload multiple versions of the modules you acquire.

Upload Packages

This widget allows you to select multiple .module files. Once the files have been processed by your browser you will see an Upload button.

Available Packages

This table will show the available packages that you have uploaded. You can search by name, version, etc.

Module Name

The name of the module

Version

The version for this specific module

Upload Date

The date in UTC in which this was uploaded to this server.

Target Device

The name of the Node where this package is currently installed. This will display $Server (for AAM) until it has been uploaded to an Edge Node.

Delete

Deletes this module from the Target Device

Update History

This page allows you to browse the upgrade/install history for all operations known to this server.

Module Name

The name of the module

Version

The version for this specific module

Target Device

This will display the name of the Node where this package was installed to.

With AAM it will show as $Server.

Once AAM or you install modules to an Edge Node, it will display the name of that node.
