The Software Updates page can be accessed by browsing to it in the page header.

This feature allows you to install and upgrade software components for Edge ACM.

Core software components will be preinstalled on every installation as per usual using the .deb packages for Linux.

Additional components can be obtained by request based on your needs and will be delivered in a .module format. These files can be uploaded and installed using this Software Updates page.

The page consists of three sub-pages: Update, Manage Packages, and Update History

Update

This page will allow you to install or upgrade modules. On start, you should see the modules that are currently installed on your box.

Installing a new module

In order to install a new module, you will need to right-click your Node. Selecting one of the available packages will display the Installation screen.

You will only see modules to be installed, if you have previously uploaded them through the Manage Packages tab discussed further below.

Upgrading an installed module

In order to upgrade a module, double-click it on the explorer. This will open the Installation Screen

Installation Screen

Once you select the module you want to install. You should see the screen shown in Figure 3.

This will either show Install New Module, or Update Module on the title, but the behavior is the same.

If you have multiple versions uploaded for a module, you can select the one you want from Available Versions.

If you want to also upgrade any upgradable dependencies shown in the Dependency Tree table, select Upgrade Dependencies

Dependency Tree

The dependency tree will show any dependencies that your target module requires. You will see their names, and the required version as well as the current version you have installed, and if it meets the requirements.

Update Details

The update details table will display any useful information as well as warnings and potential risk from the install/update you’re about to commit to. Any warnings will usually have a link with further information.

Applying an update

Once you press the Install button, the package either gets installed locally or uploaded and installed from AAM if AAM is being used.

This however, does not apply the install, until you restart that target device.

In order to restart the node, right-click it in the explorer, and press Restart Node

The node will be sent a command to restart completely.

The webserver, any running applications, and any operations will be shutdown. You will lose all communication with that instance of Edge ACM for several minutes.

Manage Packages

This page will allow you to upload multiple versions of the modules you acquire.

Upload Package

This widget will allow you to select multiple .module files. The files will be processed in your browser and after they get processed, you will see an Upload button.

Only when you press the Upload button will the files actually reach the server!
