This feature allows you provides the ability to install and upgrade software components for Edge ACM. Core software components will be preinstalled on every installation as per usual using the .deb packages for Linux.

Additional components can may be obtained by request based on your needs and will be delivered in a .module format. These files can be uploaded and installed using this the Software Updates.

Installing and Updating Modules

The Update

This page will allow allows you to install or and upgrade modules. On startWhen opening this page, you should will see the modules that are currently installed on your box.

Installing a new module

In order to install a new module, you will need to right-click your Node . Selecting and select one of the available packages will to display the Installation screen.

You will only see modules to be installed, if you have previously uploaded them through the Manage Packages tab discussed further belowOnly packages already uploaded through the “Manage Packages” tab will appear in this list. See “Manage Packages” below for more information.

Upgrading an installed module

In order to upgrade a module, double-click it on the explorer. This will open the Installation Screen

Once you select the module you want to install. You should see the screen shown in Figure 3.

The title of the Installation Screen will either be “Install New Module” or “Update Module” depending on the activity you are performing, but the behavior is the same.

Install New Module/Update Module

Select the module version from the “Available Versions” list. This will load additional information in the Dependency Tree and Update Details tables.

If you want to also upgrade any upgradable dependencies shown in the Dependency Tree table, select Upgrade Dependencies

Dependency Tree

The dependency tree will show shows any dependencies that your target the selected module requires. You will see their names, and The table displays the dependency name, the required version as well as , the current version you have currently installed , and if it and whether or not the installed version meets the requirements.

Update Details

The update details table will display displays any useful information as well as warnings and potential risk from the install/update you’re about to commit to. Any warnings will perform. Warnings usually have a link with further information.

Applying an update

Once you press the Install button, the package either gets

Note

The target device must be restarted with all new installations in order for the installation to be applied.

Click the Install button to install or upgrade the package. The package is either installed locally or uploaded and installed from AAM if AAM is being used.

This however, does not apply the install, until you restart that target device. The node will get a red icon indicating that a restart is required.

You will also see some If a restart is required, a red icon will appear next to the node.

Additional information about updates and status are visible on the top right of this page. This will also show if a restart is required for the node that you’re currently browsing in your web browsercurrent node, and the date of the last update for it.

Restart the Node

In order to restart the node, right-click it in the explorer, and press select Restart Node.

The node will be sent a command to restart completely.

Note

The webserver, any running applications, and any operations will be shutdown. You will lose all All communication with that instance of Edge ACM will be lost for several minutes.

Once the node restarts, you will be able to use your can use the upgraded/installed software modules and continue with your operations. The restart will bring up any previously running applications.

If the previous version of a module was running, and the new version has

configuration changes, you might not see your module start after this restart. You will need to go into App Manager and configure any changes needed.

Manage Packages

This page will allow you to upload multiple versions of the modules you acquire.

This widget will allow allows you to select multiple .module files. The files will be processed in your browser and after they get processed, Once the files have been processed by your browser you will see an Upload button.

Note

Only when you press the Upload button on the left will the files actually reach the server!

The version for this specific module

Upload Date

The date in UTC in which this was uploaded to this server.

Target Device

This will display the

installed. This will display $Server (for AAM) until it has been uploaded to an Edge Node
