BSAP Error Messages: PES = -10 / Error in Archive File or Audit Request

Problem Description

Note: In later releases of ACM, the "PES = -10" error messages have been changed to be more informative, so the first thing that getting the "PES = -10" error message tells you is that you need to upgrade to the latest release.

"Unknown error - PES = -10, SES = 0" or "Error in audit request - Audit logging may not be enabled in device."

You'll typically get this error message when polling the audit upload. It means that your BSAP device hasn't been configured to log audit records. You'll have to use OpenBSI to enable audit logging in the device's configuration.

"Unknown error - PES = -10, SES = -1" or "Error in archive file request - File name or number may be incorrect."

You'll typically get this error message when polling uploads other than the audit upload. It means that you're trying to read an archive file that doesn't exist. Usually this happens for one of two reasons:

1) If polling the device for that archive file has worked previously and no changes have been made to ACM, the program the device was running that implemented the archive file has probably been destroyed.

2) If you've just set up or recently made changes to your ACM configuration, you probably have the wrong archive file name or number configured for that upload.  To find out the correct archive file number or name for ControlWave devices, consult the appropriate Knowledge Base article:
  • Getting ACM BSAP Upload Information for a ControlWave Device from OpenBSI Netview
  • Getting AES BSAP Upload Information for a ControlWave Device from OpenBSI Netview

If your device is not a ControlWave, contact AutoSol technical support.

To change the archive file name or number in ACM:

  • Open the BSAP Archive Access object that the device is using for that upload. You can find the name of this object by looking at the <Upload Name> Access field the Meter Runs tab.
  • In the BSAP Archive Access object, the Archive Type field indicates whether the file number or name should be used, and the "Array or File ID" field should contain the correct archive file number or name.
