Status Viewer

Overview

The Status Viewer, visible when viewing a device or port, is used to quickly view the polling health.  A secondary level, available to devices, allows the user to monitor any group of configured OPC tags.

System Points

The System Points table shows communication status data for each time period stored in ACM.   Once a device or port Status tab is visible on a screen, the System Point data will be continually updated.

Alias Groups

The Alias Groups section is only available for devices and can be activated or deactivated via an option in User Preferences.  This section shows OPC tags that are in the alias groups selected above the grid.  The alias groups in this drop down are the ones established on the "Options" page of the device.  Just like the System Points, once they show up, they will be continuously updated, however no demand poll is invoked. They are added to the list of OPC tags to retrieve on a demand poll.  

The activation of this grid is controlled by a setting in the User Preferences under "Tools". 




Activate Alias Tags choices:

  • Never: The grid will never display Alias group OPC tags, rendering this grid disabled.
  • Always: The grid will always display Alias group OPC tags and add them to demand list.
  • Only When Alias Group tags are activate: The grid will only display Alias group OPC tags if the activate tags is checked on the Alias Group assign to the device.  This results in some devices having an active Status tab and some not.

Note

Any changes done to any Alias Group or to the User Preferences settings will not effect an open device or port tab.  They will have to be closed and re-open to reflect any changes.
