Overview

The Universal Application Manager shares an interface with Edge Manager. It allows you to configure multiple instances Autosol Edge Nodes with lower bandwidth requirements than directly accessing their configuration websites.

Installation

Run UniversalAppManager.exe on your Windows system.

Confirm that a UniversalAppManager folder has been added to your Start menu with a Universal App Manager shortcut.

Note: UAM uses a Postgres database for configuration. If using non-default credentials, the configuration file will need to be changed to match. The file can be found here:

C:\ProgramData\UniversalAppManager\config.ini

Execute the shortcut and confirm function via the terminal:

Getting Started

  1. In order to configure remote Edge applications, you will need to share an MQTT broker.

    1. Right click $Server and select properties.

Add one or more Brokers using the + button and ensure the broker you wish to connect to is enabled. Broker connections work best when only one is enabled at a time.

    1. Select Broker 1 and enter your broker settings. For more information about the additional settings visit MQTT TLS

  1. Right-click $Server and Restart the MQTT Client. The Connection Status in the top right corner should now be green.

  1. You may now right click $Server and issue a Discover Nodes command;

    2. This will reveal all Edge Nodes currently connected to the active Broker.

  1. When you first gain access to an Edge Node, you will have to manually request its configuration information. To do this, right click the node and use Sync.

  1. Give this command a few minutes to run. If no changes appear, manually Refresh Tree. You should now be able to expand all of the apps on your edge node.

From there you will be able to review and change any of the apps as you would on the device itself.

  1. If you wish to monitor the configuration data being sent, a client such as mqtt.fx can be connected to the same broker.
