Prerequisites

  • Establish a valid connection to an MQTT broker

  • Ensure eACM is polling and AUTOSOL MQTT is publishing

  • Provide Ignition the MQTT broker connection

How to add or remove metadata properties for tag objects

  1. In the explorer, right click on “Edge ACM”, go to “Edit Metadata” and select “Tag”

  2. A new tab will open that looks like this. You can click on the + in “Properties” to add new metadata properties.

  3. Each property has a name, type, and default value. You can click on the trash can icon on the right of a property to delete it. Default values will only be applied to newly created tags.

  4. Once you’re done, click the save icon in the top left

  5. If tags have metadata, then you will see a “Metadata” tab when editing a tag that contains the added properties.

  6. The metadata properties will also appear when doing multi-item editing.

  7. Restart “Edge ACM” to have the metadata properties take effect.

How to view metadata in Ignition

  • Ensure you have met the prerequisites

  • Add metadata properties

  • Open Ignition, select the MQTT Engine, and traverse the Edge Nodes tree for tags with metadata properties
